Thijssen’s opinion about: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

So this is my first impression blog after seeing the E3 Assassin’s Creed Odyssey trailer and the little talks about it.

At first, when Assassin’s Creed came up at the Ubisoft E3, I thought: “Wow, this is amazing.” I became very hyped for the new upcoming game. It seems awesome. good graphics, a good story as far I am expecting. In my believe, an upgraded AC Origins.I really like the fact that you can choose how to play this game. but yes, I am RPG fan, so that’s something I will like either way. You can “write” your own history in the game, is what I believe they told? well, that is also something what could turn out funny. The choice of character and character development is very interesting and different for everyone as we can also choose our own fate in this. I am most excited for this part of the game. The time set is also very interesting, ancient Greece. But then I started thinking about this whole game…

I was at work, thinking about the new upcoming AC game. I talked with some friends about it and somehow i got a few questions going through my mind. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but the time set is before AC Origins? How is that even possible? Origins was the start, the beginning, of the creed. How can they make a game before this all without even the creed existing yet? And why do they call it “Assassin’s Creed” if there are no Assassins at all?

But then again, I was talking to a friend of mine who said; “in Origins are also a few questions not yet answered, which might be answered in Odyssey”. I was confused, but he somehow was right. In AC Origins, Aya got already hidden blades, these came from Cleopatra, but where did Cleopatra get the hidden blades from? I hope we’ll get the answers in the next game.

Well, now a few weeks later I heard something about Odessey, is more focussed on the Templar order. What I think is: How? How are they going to do that? I always thought the Templars were more from the time period of Altaïr (I am not an historical expert though) but it feels like they are going to get of from the realistic path. However, I don’t know for sure as these are just rumours and the game isn’t out yet.

I really feel like the name “Assassin’s Creed” is only used to make us buy this game. Ubisoft kind of starts to get the attitude “it’s history so it’s Assassin’s Creed”? I don’t know. not yet. but it feels like it.

Well, i know for sure I am going to like the game, but I don’t think the name “Assassin’s Creed” will fit this part. It just doesn’t feel right, I want the Creed feeling back! If this game is really going to turn out as an “Assassin’s Creed” game without assassins, well, than i have to say honestly that I might not will buy the next “Assassin’s Creed” game after Odyssey if there will be one. However i am still excited for this game. My feelings are so mixed and messed up about this game.

I hope it will be more Assassin’s Creed than I’m expecting at the moment. but I have not much faith in it…
