Short impression Assassin’s Creed Origins by Ivar

When it was announced that Origins would go to the country of Egypt, I was flabbergasted. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the trailer, in which Ancient Egypt was so beautifully crafted. This is the game I have waited on since the release of the original game and the silent dead of Prince of Persia. Remember that name, as this name will come up multiple times during this blog. Enjoy the read and let me take you back to the time of pharaohs, mummies, pyramids and the Roman Empire…

Assassin’s Creed started off with Altaïr Ibn-la’Ahad, an assassin in the medieval era during the crusades. His story, intertwined with that of Desmond Miles, created a strong foundation for a game series now wildly known. However, the success of Assassin’s Creed marked the downfall of Prince of Persia, the series it was based on. But now it seems that going to ancient Egypt with Origins will combine both series…

How you might ask? Well during the era of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Persia is part of the Parthian Empire and, not really unexpected, at war with the Roman Empire. As the setting of Persia was mystical or even mythical, and Ancient Egypt is even more so, we might see some nods to the franchise which started it all… As a huge Prince of Persia fan, I was saddened to see the sands of the desert only in the mirrors of the past, but now Assassin’s Creed is going to Egypt. And trust me, from what I have seen and played, the vibe is exactly the same!

The moment your ride into the desert you want to be there with Bayek. You want to feel the hot sand burn your feet and feel the warmth of the sun on your skin. The visuals are there, it looks so beautiful, so real, as if you can almost touch it.

After all these years we can finally start a brand new adventure, in an unexplored world, almost untouched by games. The brand new combat system makes Assassin’s Creed Origins feel like a real Role Playing Game and is heavily inspired by games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Witcher. I am really glad that Ubisoft took Assassin’s Creed in this direction, it is new but feels familiar and the setting is unique and opens up loads of opportunities. The open world, new skill system, the focus on stealth and parkour will make this game for me the most anticipated in the series, and I personally think they will bring back the series to the place it belongs: professional, great quality and above all an experience to never forget! The Prince of Persia might have died in the 9th century, but a thousand years before, his legacy is more alive than ever!
