The story of Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation takes place between 1765 and 1780, around the end of the French and Indian War. The protagonist, Aveline de Grandpré, fights for justice and is the first playable female character in the series. She is born from an arranged marriage between her French father and African mother. After the disappearance of her mother, her father decides to educate her on the standards and values of the citizenry. Although they themselves belong to the top layer of New Orleans, she helps the poor strata of the population and is resolutely opposed to slavery. Later she is picked up by Agaté, the leader of the assassins in New Orleans, and she meets Connor Kenway (the main character of Assassin’s Creed III). Aveline is not an ancestor of Desmond Miles and thus lived from another character who has entered the Animus.
In addition to gameplay diversity is encouraged by the background of the female protagonist, each mission can be played in different outfits that have their advantages and disadvantages. Aveline can dress like aristocrat, in which she cannot climb on buildings, but use her feminine charms. The second outfit that she can use is that of a maid. This outfit can be used to mingle with the other slaves and infiltrate unnoticed in strictly guarded locations. The most common outfit is her assassin outfit. With this outfit she can climb buildings and can use the extensive fighting system.
